Locals near the harbour say a ferret wearing tiny sunglasses has spent the week pointing at vans, then at signs, then at its own tail, as though running a transport empire from a drainage pipe.

Delivery drivers, who had been expecting a simple parcel drop, now report being sent on “a scenic route with intent”.

Witnesses insist the ferret is not merely confused. It appears to know exactly where every box ought to go, and is deeply unimpressed when anyone parks badly.

Some say the animal has become the unofficial mayor of a very small industrial estate. Others believe it is training for a promotion nobody else understands.

Council staff declined to comment, though one was heard muttering that the ferret has “better organisational skills than half the office”.
