The clip, which may or may not have been filmed by someone holding a sandwich, shows a traffic cone planted beside a crossroads with the sort of confidence usually reserved for local councillors and parking wardens.
In the footage, the cone appears to point at nearby cars as if outlining a bold transport strategy, before wobbling slightly in the wind and resuming its job of being orange.
An eyewitness, who asked to remain anonymous because they were on a lunch break, said the cone had “real leadership energy” and “terrible weatherproofing.”
Rumour enthusiasts have already begun mapping the cone’s supposed campaign trail, including a petrol station forecourt, a roundabout and what looks suspiciously like a skip with opinions.
Nothing in the video suggests any actual political programme, though one commentator claims the cone may be “protesting against unnecessary lane changes.”
