The internet has once again done what it does best: stared at a blurry thing and declared it destiny. This time, the object in question is a lamppost wearing a wool overcoat, apparently standing outside a shuttered laundrette and acting like the headmaster of a very stern evening class.
In the fictional clip, the lamppost is surrounded by a ring of folding chairs, a chalkboard, and three bins that seem to be taking notes. The course title, according to baffled onlookers, is said to be "Applied Moping, Advanced" with a side module in "Looking Important While Remaining Stationary".
Nobody is claiming this is real, of course, because it plainly isn’t. But that has not stopped enthusiasts from insisting the lamppost’s posture proves it is "setting up a whole system". One witness, possibly a man carrying chips, described the atmosphere as "oddly managerial".
The funniest part is the alleged timetable, which includes lessons in public sighing, railway-platform etiquette, and how to glare at the moon as though it has personally let you down. Passing seagulls are understood to have enrolled immediately.
If true in the strictest made-up sense, this would mark a bold new era for municipal furniture: not just lighting the streets, but mentoring them. Still, it may all turn out to be a normal lamppost in a coat, which is exactly the sort of nonsense this site thrives on.
The verdict? Utter poppycock, but magnificently committed poppycock. And in this town, commitment is half the battle.
