Industry watchers have taken a deep breath, adjusted their spectacles and concluded that a trampoline wearing a dinner suit is probably important now.

The reasoning is impeccable in the way only rumour analysis can be: it is shiny, it is bouncy and it appears to have crossed a road, which in these circles is generally treated as a strategic manoeuvre.

According to the analysis, the trampoline may herald a new era of “vertical social spaces,” where clubs are less about dance floors and more about landing safely after a melodramatic hop.

Economists quoted by absolutely nobody suggest this could boost late-night spending on hair products, fizzy drinks and emotional confidence. One commentator even predicted a “bounce premium” on waterfront property, which sounds less like a theory and more like a sneeze.

If true, the whole market could shift. If false, at least it will have been a very dignified trampoline.
